The Rested Woman
Dear Friend,
Being a woman is one of the most precious gifts from God. When He created us, He did so with divine intention giving us purpose, strength, and abilities that are uniquely ours. We are nurturers, dreamers, builders, and carriers of life. We are mothers, sisters, friends, leaders, and professionals. We manage homes, care for others, pursue careers, and still find time to give love and encouragement to those around us.
But if we’re honest, sometimes it feels like a lot. There are days when the weight of being everything to everyone can leave us weary, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. And yet, even in that weariness, God whispers, “Come to Me, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
There are moments when it feels like we’re constantly pouring out, holding everything together while trying to stay strong. And in those moments, God gently reminds us — you were never meant to do it all on your own.
The Proverbs 31 Woman: Strength Anchored in Rest
The Proverbs 31 woman is often seen as the ultimate example of a woman who “does it all.” She rises early, provides for her family, works diligently, and serves others. But if we look deeper, her strength doesn’t come from doing everything; it comes from her relationship with God.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” (Proverbs 31:25)
Her confidence and strength flow from her trust in the Lord. She doesn’t carry her responsibilities alone; she walks in wisdom, guided by divine strength. Her rest isn’t just physical, it’s spiritual. It’s the kind of rest that comes from knowing God is in control, even when life feels overwhelming.
Her strength is rooted in God. Her peace comes from trusting Him. She’s not running on empty; she’s fueled by grace. And that’s what I believe God wants for all of us, to find that sweet balance between doing and resting, between carrying and surrendering.
Resting Beyond the Physical
True rest is more than sleep or taking a day off. It’s releasing the pressure to perform and allowing God to refresh your soul. Rest happens when we surrender, when we stop striving to do it all in our own strength and begin to lean on His.
To rest in the Lord is to pause, to breathe, and to let His presence remind you that you are enough, not because of what you do, but because of who you are in Him.
When we rest in God:
Our minds quiet down.
Our hearts find peace.
Our bodies are renewed.
Our spirit is reminded that we are held.
A Gentle Reminder
You can be a woman of strength and still need rest. You can be capable and still need to pause. Rest is not a sign of weakness; it’s a spiritual rhythm that keeps your soul aligned with God’s will.
So today, let this be your reminder:
You are not called to do it all alone. You are called to abide.
To find rest in His presence.
To draw strength from His promises.
To let go of the weight and trust the One who carries you.
So today, I pray you find rest, not just for your body, but for your mind and spirit.
Let God refill you.
Let His presence renew you.
You are a Proverbs 31 woman, not because you’re perfect, but because your heart belongs to the Lord.
